How to start a poem

This is how I normally start to write a poem
  1. Come up with a subject
  2. Come up with a line or two
  3. Go with the flow
For number three, it means just to write down what first pops into your head, that you like. If you think to much, your poem will come out to literal. Poems are supposed to contain a mouthful of beautiful vocabulary. Vocab is the key. It makes any kind of writing interesting.  That is my opinion.
